Certificate Programs
Certificate in Cultural Competence for Health Professionals
The standards for Cultural and Linguistic Competency (CLAS) released in 2001 require health providers to acquire and demonstrate cultural competence. Designed to help you meet that requirement, this new program will cover the cultural and linguistic characteristics of residents in the central California area and will provide you an opportunity to explore these other areas:
Cultural Competence in Health Care Settings

- Complimentary, Alternative, holistic, and allopathic medicine: A primer
Certificate in Fundamentals of Public Health
This 20 hour online certificate program is designed to provide a strong foundation for students and public health professionals seeking to enhance their training in each of the five major disciplines in public health. Students in the program will complete self-directed learning via the Blackboard learning system and interact with the instructors via Elluminate and video conferencing. The course is offered through the Division of Continuing and Global Education.
Certificate in Public Health Administration
The Certificate in Public Health Administration offers administrative employees the opportunity to develop skills needed in health administration settings. This 24-hour concentrated program presents skill based knowledge of administrative aspects in public health.

- Interviewing Skills and Supervisory Training
Who Should Attend
This program will be helpful to nurses, medical doctors, public health workers, psychologists, marriage and family therapists, licensed and unlicensed clinical social workers, rehabilitation counselors, allied health professionals, administrators of agencies delivering health and social services, graduate students in the health field, and any one interested in achieving this knowledge and certificates.
Completion of the Certificate Program
To earn a certificate of completion for any of the certificates above, you must attend all courses stated below each listing. Individual classes may be taken to meet your needs.
Continuing Education Units (CEUs) Available:
Each course offers optional CEUs for nurses, certified health education specialists, marriage and family therapists, and licensed clinical social workers. The number of units available is listed after the title of each class.
