Community Health Workers
The Central California Public Health Training Academy has developed a training program for community health workers. This program introduces community health workers to the health care system and prepares them to be patient navigators within health care organizations. The course also provides basic medical terminology, communication skills, and advocacy.
In 2012 the Academy partnered with the Tulare County Workforce Development Board to develop a training program for community health workers. A report from this program can be found here (PDF).
