Central California Social Welfare Evaluation, Research and Training Center

Education and Training

The Department of Social Work Education and the College of Health and Human Services has a rich history of providing pre-service and in-service education and training to child welfare practitioners and providers through their Title-IV-E Stipend Program, Child Welfare Training Academy and Adult Services Training Academy.

Because of history and funding, these training and education programs have developed somewhat separately and autonomously. One of the benefits of housing SWERT at the Department of Social Work Education will be linking ancillary units and specialized education programs through research and evaluation activities.

As other education and training activities are developed, such as the two new statewide initiatives on specialized education on aging and mental health, they can be easily incorporated into this structure.
