Central California Social Welfare Evaluation, Research and Training Center
Projects & Programs
SWERT houses six projects and programs that help the community:
Adult Services Training Academy (ASTA)
Serves a 24-county region encompassing both Central California and the Bay Area. This
program is dedicated to developing and providing core and fundamental training aimed
at educating APS workers within these regions. The training is meticulously designed
to equip APS workers with the knowledge, skills, and tools necessary to effectively
protect the safety and well-being of vulnerable adults and the aging population.
Bay Area Training Academy (BAA)
Serves a 12-county region in the Bay Area whose primary audience are agencies that
serve children in out-of-home care. The Bay Area Academy offers training, coaching
and technical assistance services to assist Bay Area child welfare agencies with achieving
their goals of safety, permanency and well-being for children, youth and families
in their communities.
The Central California Area Social Services Consortium (CCASSC)
A partnership that has expanded throughout the years and benefited from multiple collaborative
efforts among counties and universities. It provides a forum to discuss ideas and
develop strategies that address pressing human service issues faced by residents in
the region. The consortium is a resource for county human service directors in strategic
planning, action-oriented research, program and policy training, and revenue/resource
management training.
The Central California Training Academy (CCTA),
Serves an 12-county region of Central California, trains newly hired and experienced
child welfare staff, supervisors, and managers of public child welfare agencies. The
academy has been adopted as a statewide model, allowing Fresno State to develop partnerships
throughout the Valley and assess whether current social services are meeting people’s
needs.
