Summer AI and Cybersecurity Workshop
Dr. Hovannes Kuhlhandjian mentored a group of high school students through an intensive one-week AI and Cybersecurity Workshop. Each day, students participated in lectures and hands-on activities covering the fundamentals of artificial intelligence and cybersecurity. The workshop combined interactive learning with practical exercises to introduce students to real-world AI and cybersecurity concepts.
As part of the workshop, the students visited Dr. Kuhlhandjian's Secure Communications and Embedded Systems Laboratory, where they learned about several ongoing research projects in AI, robotics, autonomous systems and brain-computer interfaces (BCIs). One of the highlights of the visit was experiencing the BCI project firsthand. Students wore the EEG headset, observed their own brainwave signals in real time, and learned how brain activity can be used to control intelligent systems. The laboratory visit gave students valuable exposure to cutting-edge research while inspiring them to pursue careers in STEM.

CDTIH Launch and Frontiers in AI and Digital Health Innovation Summit

State kicked off during the Frontiers in AI and Digital Health Innovation Summit,
which brought together researchers, industry partners and leaders in the field to

Immersive VR Workshop for undergraduate students interested in health professions
Dr. Nupur Hajela conducted an Immersive VR workshop for students from Center for Access
to Science for All (CASA) who are in the Health career pathway program - HCOP/HPPP
program in College of Science and Mathematics.
The title of her presentation was : Reimagining Healthcare Education:Immersive VR
as a Catalyst for Experiential Learning. This was Immersive, hands-on learning experiences
for students interested in health-related programs such as Physical Therapy, Nursing,
Kinesiology, Public Health. Dr. Hajela provided hands-on learning using Neurorehab
VR and showed students real world applications for VR as a physical therapy tool for
patient populations such as Parkinson's Disease, gait and balance issues. She was
then joined by Health sciences librarian Shuyi Liu who talked about VR related headsets
and resources available in the library.
