Scholarship Opportunities

The College of Health and Human Services is proud to award nearly 120 scholarships annually to incoming and continuing students from a variety of majors and backgrounds. Regardless of accomplishments, interests, background, or GPA, we encourage all students to apply for scholarships they are eligible for. The scholarship application period for Fresno State starts annually on October 1 and ends on March 2. In order to be considered for a Fresno State scholarship, students must be a continuing student or a new student who has applied for admission.

Note: some of the scholarship opportunities listed below only require the general scholarship application to be submitted. However, some apply-to scholarships require applicants to submit additional information about themselves in order to qualify for an opportunity.

Communicative Sciences and Deaf Studies Scholarship
Eligibility: Undergraduate or graduate students majoring within CSDS with 2.0 GPA or greater

Silent Garden Sign Language Interpreting Scholarship
Eligibilty: A junior or senior student majoring in CSDS-Interpreting with 3.0 GPA or greater

Joseph S. and Mary R. Slotnick Scholarship
Eligibility: CSDS majors with an option in Interpreting or Deaf Education with a 3.0 GPA or greater, and demonstrated financial need. 

Trinity Health - Saint Agnes Scholarship for SLP Grads
Eligibility: Graduate-level Speech-Language Pathology student with financial need and 3.0 GPA or greater 

Dovey D. and Joseph Herzog Excellence in Kinesiology Scholarship
Eligibility: Junior or senior level student majoring in Kinesiology-Physical Education with 3.5 GPA or greater

Emily C. Sample Memorial Scholarship
Eligibility: Student majoring in Kinesiology-Physical Education with 2.0 GPA or greater

Fred Bartels Scholarship in Kinesiology
Eligibility: Student majoring in Kinesiology-Physical Education with a 3.0 GPA or greater, and an interest in coaching or teaching

Harry Moradian Memorial Scholarship
Eligibility: Student majoring in Kinesiology-Physical Education with a 2.0 GPA or greater 

Tom and Shirley Aney Kinesiology Scholarship
Eligibility: Student majoring in Kinesiology-Physical Education with a 3.0 GPA or greater, and demontrated participation with campus organizations and/or sports. 

Alice Cecile Harmston and Betty Louise Harmston Memorial Scholarship
Eligibility: Junior, senior, or graduate level nursing student with a 2.5 GPA or greater, and a demonstrated financial need

Anna Biehl Scholarship
Eligibility: Graduate-level nursing student

Anne Gabel Memorial Scholarship
Eligibility: Graduate-level nursing student with a 3.0 GPA or greater, and a desire to become public health nurse

Charles Matoian Memorial Scholarship
Eligibility: Nursing student with an interest in oncology

Dr. Judith Knapp Woodward Scholarship
Eligibility: Nursing student (of any level) with a 3.5 GPA or greater, and a desire to work in hospitals located in the central San Joaquin Valley

Eligibility: Nursing student with a 2.0 GPA or greater

John H. and Rudy L. Edwards - Nursing Scholarship
Eligibility: Nursing student with a 2.5 GPA or greater

Marie Alice and Gilbert Peart Scholarship
Eligibility: Nursing student with with a 2.0 GPA or greater, demonstrated finanical need, and who may have graduated from a local community college 

Marie N. Haddad Nursing Scholarship
Eligibility: Nursing student with a 3.0 GPA or greater, who has demonstrated strong community service 

Miller Family Nursing Scholarship
Eligibility: Nursing student with a 2.0 GPA or greater

Molly Taylor Griffin Nursing Honors Scholarship
Eligibility: Junior or senior nursing student with a 3.5 GPA or greater, and is part of the CHHS Honors Scholars Program 

Nursing Department Grant
Eligibility: Nursing student with a 3.5 GPA or greater, with demonstrated financial need 

Nursing General Scholarship 
Eligibility: Nursing student with a 2.0 GPA or greater

Eligibility: Nursing student with a 3.0 GPA or greater

Russler Family Scholarship
Eligibility: Nursing student with a 3.0 GPA or greater, and demonstrated leadership abilities

Eligibility: Nursing student with a 2.5 GPA or greater

Eligibility: Nursing student with a 3.0 GPA or greater, with demonstrated financial need 

Vivian Peoples Memorial Scholarship
Eligibility: Nursing student with a 2.5 GPA or greater, with demonstrated financial need 

Darlene Stewart Professional Promise Scholarship
Eligibility: DPT students with 3.0 GPA or greater, who show a strong commitment to the physical therapy community

Dennis Ravinale Memorial Scholarship
Eligibility: DPT students with a 2.0 GPA or greater

PT General Scholarship
Eligibility: DPT students with a 2.0 GPA or greater 

Robert and Jessica Bacci Physical Therapy Scholarship
Eligibility: DPT students with a 3.0 GPA or greater, who are interested in trinityworking in Tulare or Kings County

Trinity Health-Saint Agnes Scholarship for Physical Therapy
Eligibility: DPT students with a 3.0 GPA or greater, and a demonstrated financial need 

Ana G. Tapia Memorial Scholarship in Public Health
Eligibility: Public health student with a demonstrated financial need, and a passion for health issues and challenges in the Latino community. Students who have a demonstrated financial need, and graduated from Fowler High School - or a high school in Fresno, Kern, Kings, Madera or Tulare Counties - will also be considered. 

Health Science Scholarship
Eligibility: Health Science student with a 2.5 GPA or greater, with a demonstrated financial need and interest in the field of health science as a career. 

Public Health General Scholarship
Eligibility: Public Health student with a 2.0 GPA or greater

Rabia Simjee Memorial Scholarship
Eligibility: Junior or senior student majoring in public health with a 3.2O GPA or greater, and an interest in community service related to women's health disparities

Cynthia Goddard Honors Scholarship
Eligibility: Recreation Administration majors with a 3.5 GPA or greater. Student must demonstrate compassion for meeting the health care needs of our diverse community through a strong level of commitment to the program and a record of health-related community service.

Ganesha Visweswaran Memorial Scholarship
Eligibility: Social work students who are either the first in their family to attend college, committed to working with children at any level and/or is an international student. Must have a 3.0 GPA or greater, and demonstrated financial need. 

Richard D. Ford Memorial Scholarship
Eligibility: Full-time junior, senior, or graduate level social work student who demonstrates overall excellence and accomplishment in their field of study. Student must have a 3.3 GPA or greater. Preference may be given to students demonstrating an interest in activities related to social work as community service, scholarly activities, and leadership potential in an academic setting.

Social Work Education General Scholarship
Eligibility: Social Work student with a 2.0 GPA or greater

Willodyne Eugenia Shields-Gaston Scholarship
Eligibility: Social Work student whose field placement is in an agency that serves predominantly African-American clients. 

Camarena Health CHHS Scholarship
Eligibility: Students majoring in Physical Therapy, Social Work, Public Health, or Kinesiology, who have a 3.0 GPA or greater, with a desire to work in the San Joaquin Valley after graduating 

CHHS General Scholarship
Eligibility: CHHS student with a 2.0 GPA or greater

CHHS - Presidential Collaborative Honors Scholarship
Eligibility: An honors scholar of any department

CHHS - Presidential Collaborative Honors Scholarship - SWE
Eligibility: An honors scholar majoring in Social Work

Therese Iknoian Honors Scholarship in Memory of Richard and Roxy Iknoian
Eligibility: Students majoring in Kinesiology, Physical Therapy, Public Health, Nursing, or Social Work, who have a 3.0 GPA or greater
