Justine McAlpine has been a faculty member in the Department of Kinesiology since
2000. During this time, she has taught primarily PETE courses, but has also served
as SOAP/Assessment Coordinator, General Option Coordinator, Kinesiology Pedagogy Club
Advisor, as well as on the President's Committee on Disability and the University
Health, Safety, and Wellness Committee. Justine enjoys offering outside certification
opportunities to her students including, Water Safety Instructor (WSI), Basic Water
Rescue, Lifeguard Training, First Aid/CPR/AED Instructor, and Lifeguard Instructor.
Justine has also made a point of hiring Fresno State Kinesiology alumni to staff her
summer swim school.
Justine has been an active volunteer for the American Red Cross since 1995, serving
as site coordinator for CPR Saturday for ten years, Humboldt County Water Safety Chairperson,
and Fresno-Madera Special Events Committee Chairperson. She received the Exceptional
Volunteer of the Year award for Humboldt County in June 2000, before moving to Fresno.
Justine presents regularly at professional conferences with topics related to aquatic
fitness, integration of technology in APE training courses, and Common Core. She
also holds water safety in-services for local school districts and is a board member
for the Parent-Faculty Club at Saroyan Elementary School.
