Lynn Jakobs, PhD, FNP-C, has over thirty years experience as an RN and over twenty years experience as a rural family nurse practitioner.  Dr. Jakobs earned her doctoral degree in nursing at the University of North Dakota, her Baccalaureate and Master of Science in Nursing at California State University at Sacrament0, and her family nurse practitioner certificat at the University of California, Davis.  Dr. Jakobs is also an AgriSafe nurse scholar.  She teaches in both the graduate and undergrade nursing programs. Dr. Jakobs serves as chair of the master's project quality review committee and the school of nursing's IRB committee.  Dr. Jakobs is the author of "The Frontier Nurse Practitioner: A Conceptual Model For Remote-Rural Practice and authored two chapters in the latest edition of Rural Nursing.  In 2019 Dr. Jakobs was voted RN of the year by the San Joaquin Valley Nursing Leadership Coalition.
Dr. Jakobs is the qualitative research expert in the SON.  Her research interests include:
  • Rural and frontier healthcare
  • Pesticide use and risk of childhood leukemia in the Central Valley
  • Oncology
  • COPD and asthma in Central Valley agricultural communities
