|
Abstract |
This DNP project is a quantitative study that utilizes a mixed-method approach to determine if a structured clinical reskilling program will decrease the percentage of open vacant positions in a specialty unit within four months. A convenience sample of registered nurses interested in transitioning to acute care specialty jobs will be identified from the medical-surgical specialty or post-acute/long-term care settings. The project aims to assess the impact of clinical education interventions on staffing capacity levels in a specific hospital department. Currently, many registered nurses face barriers transitioning to acute care specialty roles due to limited training resources post-graduation, such as nurse residencies or facility-sponsored continuing education programs. This project devised transition to practice reskilling and upskilling methodologies to diminish reliance on contingent labor, thereby bolstering operational efficiency and financial viability. |
