Dr. Steven Waite is an Assistant Professor of Exercise Science in the Department of
Kinesiology. He specializes in strength and conditioning theory and practice, and
is a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the NSCA. Dr. Waite
also played NCAA DII soccer at Fresno Pacific Univeristy (FPU) as a goalkeeper, and
has competed as a marathon runner following his undergraduate studies. He also recieved
both his bachelor's and master's degrees in Exercise Science from FPU, as well as
a Ph.D. in Health & Human Performance from Concordia University Chicago. He has taught
at multiple colleges both locally and abroad, and previously served as an Assistant
Professor of Kinesiology at FPU before joining the department at Fresno State in 2024.
Dr. Waite uses his knowledge from his education and experience as an athlete to help
equip students with the skillsets needed to pursue a career in strength and conditioning
and other related fields involved in the exercise sciences. Outside of the classroom,
he enjoys weightlifting, running, shooting cowboy action, and spending time with his
family and friends. He is married to Catherine Waite, and have two children named
Reese and Callum.
