Dr. Roos is an Associate Professor in the Department of Physical Therapy. Dr. Roos received her Doctor of Physical Therapy from the University of California, San Francisco, San Francisco State University/Fresno State. In addition, she holds a Masters in Physical Therapy and a Bachelors in Science degree in Exercise Physiology from Fresno State. She is a Geriatric Clinical Specialist (GCS) and has received a Certificate in Aquatic Physical Therapy Clinical Competency (CAPTCC).

Dr. Roos joined the Fresno State Department of Physical Therapy as part-time faculty advisor in 2012. In 2015, she transitioned from the clinic to the classroom teaching full time in the DPT program and was the Graduate Program Coordinator until 2022. She added the role of Director of Clinical Education in 2022 and teaches across the curriculum in various courses. Dr. Roos has clinical experience across the continuum of care but has spent the majority of her time as a clinician in the rehabilitation setting. Her teaching emphasis is in body systems, women’s health, aquatics, service-learning, and community engagement.

Dr. Roos is actively engaged in the San Joaquin Valley District of the California Physical Therapy Association and has held various positions for over 10+ years and is currently a member of the nominating committee. She is currently serving a second term as 1st VP of Governance for APTA Aquatics Academy. Dr. Roos collaborates with faculty and community partners on research projects and community service activities. She has presented her work at the national, state, and local level. She is actively participating in multiple research projects including gait velocity characteristics in the inpatient rehabilitation setting, lower-limb amputation, inspiratory muscle training, and women’s health. Dr. Roos participates and supports student community projects that collaborate with the mobile health unit, often including participation in PT Day of Service activities.

Research Interests:
Gait velocity characteristics among different populations (older adults, lower-limb amputation, diabetes). Gait velocity changes during length of stay in adults admitted to an inpatient rehabilitation facility. Aquatics, women’s health, and the cardiopulmonary system.
