Central Valley Health Policy Institute
Fresno County Group Prenatal Care
First 5 Fresno County and the Central Valley Health Policy Institute are implementing a group prenatal care demonstration project to improve access to high quality prenatal care, increase social support for pregnant and parenting families on Medi-Cal and reduce the longstanding racial/ethnic disparities in maternal and child health outcomes.
This project will also conduct the Fresno County Group Prenatal Care Feasibility study, and will include pregnant women who are receiving prenatal care with a participating provider. The goal of this effort is to determine feasibility and acceptability (for patients and providers) of a new model of quality, sustainable, replicable group prenatal care in a central site, that focuses on addressing the psychological and social determinants of health for Medi-Cal enrolled women in Fresno. This model will also be tested in reducing the incidence preterm birth.
