Speech Therapy

The basic services offered by the Speech, Language and Hearing Clinic include diagnosis, and treatment for individuals who may experience a variety of different communication problems or disorders, such as cleft palate, voice disorders, hearing loss or deafness, cerebral palsy, fluency, articulation disorders, post stroke aphasia or language delay/disorders.  Clients can self–refer and can live anywhere in the San Joaquin Valley.

Services are provided by graduate students under the direct supervision of faculty members or contracted speech-language pathologists.  All professional supervisors are licensed by the State of California and are certified by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association in Speech Pathology or Audiology. Please see our fee schedule on the right hand column of this page. You can find information about enrolling for services at the Application Process and Forms link in the left hand menu.

Diagnostics Clinic

The Diagnostics Clinic is offered to members of the community of all ages, free of charge.  This clinic consists of a comprehensive assessment of speech/language, fluency disorders, voice disorders as well as a variety of other communication issues. The assessment is conducted by, either, graduate clinicians OR undergraduate Communicative Sciences and Deaf Studies students under the direct supervision of a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist.  If treatment is recommended following the assessment, the client will be added to top of the waitlist for treatment in the clinic.

* Note: All placements are subject to approval by our clinic director.

Individual Therapy

Speech and language evaluations are followed by conferences with the client or parent.  Appropriate recommendations and/or referrals are made at that time.  If therapy is indicated, the individual is eligible for treatment sessions at the clinic.  Individual therapy sessions are held two times a week over a 12-week period in Fall and Spring semesters and usually are 35 minutes in length.  In the summer, sessions are held four days a week for a 6-week period.
