Speech Therapy
The basic services offered by the Speech, Language and Hearing Clinic include diagnosis, and treatment for individuals who may experience a variety of different communication problems or disorders, such as cleft palate, voice disorders, hearing loss or deafness, cerebral palsy, fluency, articulation disorders, post stroke aphasia or language delay/disorders. Clients can self–refer and can live anywhere in the San Joaquin Valley.
Services are provided by graduate students under the direct supervision of faculty members or contracted speech-language pathologists. All professional supervisors are licensed by the State of California and are certified by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association in Speech Pathology or Audiology. Diagnostics Clinic
The Diagnostics Clinic is offered to members of the community of all ages, free of charge. This clinic consists of a comprehensive assessment of speech/language, fluency disorders, voice disorders as well as a variety of other communication issues. The assessment is conducted by, either, graduate clinicians OR undergraduate Communicative Sciences and Deaf Studies students under the direct supervision of a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist. If treatment is recommended following the assessment, the client will be added to top of the waitlist for treatment in the clinic.

Individual Therapy
Speech and language evaluations are followed by conferences with the client or parent. Appropriate recommendations and/or referrals are made at that time. If therapy is indicated, the individual is eligible for treatment sessions at the clinic. Individual therapy sessions are held two times a week over a 12-week period in Fall and Spring semesters and usually are 35 minutes in length. In the summer, sessions are held four days a week for a 6-week period.
Bilingual Clinic
The California State University, Fresno Speech, Language & Hearing Clinic is offering a bilingual speech-language therapy clinic. In this clinic, graduate students will conduct comprehensive evaluation and treatment that is culturally and linguistically reliable under the supervision of a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist. This clinic is open to clients as young as 3 years old who may have difficulty in their primary and/or secondary language.
Preschools
Fresno State’s Speech and Hearing Clinic also offers speech therapy to children in a preschool setting. A brief description for each preschool are as follows:
PUPS Phonological Preschool- Work with children from the ages of 3 to 5 who have a phonological disorder. The schedule is typically Mondays and Wednesdays from 9:00 to 10:30 am.
SEALS Early Intervention Preschool- Work with children from birth to 3 years of age, but typically 2 to 3 year olds with all types of speech disorders. The schedule is typically Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:45-5:15 pm.
STARS Autism Preschool- Work with children from the ages of 3 to 5 years of age who are diagnosed with autism or show signs of autistic-like behaviors. The schedule is typically Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30-5:00 pm.
