Department of Physical Therapy
Clinical Education
Clinical Education is the opportunity to apply classroom didactic knowledge and patient handling skills to direct patient care under the supervision of a clinical instructor. The philosophy of clinical education in our department is for graduates to be educated with a firm knowledge base and be capable of critical thought leading to effective analysis and interpretation of data on which to make treatment planning decisions and to predict outcomes based on sound research.
Clinical sites are located within the State of California and out of the state of California. Students complete a total of 30 weeks of clinical experience throughout the 3-year DPT curriculum. Certification of internship completion is required before the graduate is eligible to take the state examination for licensure.
There also are various on-campus clinics as well as opportunities for research with Physical Therapy faculty.
