Current Students
Through the Master of Public Health program, we are committed to promoting, preserving, and restoring health. This is accomplished by educating graduate students to be effective leaders and competent practitioners at the local, national, and international levels. Here is some important information to keep in mind as you navigate our two-year program.
Program Timeline
First year students should complete the following before the end of the current Spring Semester:
- Complete and submit Classified Graduate Standing form available through the Division of Graduate Studies website.
- Complete all the requirements listed on acceptance letter by end of the semester.
Second year students should complete the following before the end of the current Spring semester:
1. Complete and submit Advancement to Candidacy form. Requirements for the form includes:
- Attaining Classified Graduate Standing
- Passing the Graduate Writing Requirement (PH 210)
- Completing 19 or more units
2. Complete the culminating experience forms:
- CEPH Exam Prep
- Filling out the Advancement to Candidacy form
- Obtaining a PH 297 permission number
OR
- Thesis or Project
- Filling out a Thesis/Project Committee Assignment form
- Filling out an Advancement to Candidacy form
- Obtaining a PH 298 or PH 299 permission number

Curriculum
The Health Promotion Option prepares public health professionals to fulfill leadership roles in the development, promotion, application, and evaluation of educational and behavioral approaches to health problems. In addition the Master of Public Health Program prepares individuals for the practice, supervision, program development and evaluation of community health education and health promotion programs. Institutional Review Board
Graduate students performing research in the Department of Public Health at Fresno State must comply with Federal Human Subjects Projection Guidelines.
The process for submitting Human Subjects application may be obtained below or from the department office.
Continuous Enrollment
All masters degree students must maintain continuous enrollment from their initial point of enrollment in their graduate program. During the time that students are working towards the completion of their culminating experience, when and if they have enrolled in all course units, they are expected to maintain enrollment through "Zero Unit Enrollment" through the Division of Graduate Studies.
